11 on the 11th

You had your first golden birthday yesterday! 11 months old on the 11th. I am seriously blown away that you are 11 months old. I sent out your Evite birthday invitation to family, and your best buds today. I am going to try and make a trial run with the cake some time next week hopefully. The weather has been amazing here in Savannah, so we have been lucky to continue many days playing outside. Your uncle Rhodes flew in just to meet you before you turned one. Uncle Rhodes is not a blood uncle, but he lived with your mom for 3 years in college, and then 2 after college, so he is basically related.
In other AMAZING NEWS!! The AUBURN TIGERS have made it into the National Championship Game! We are SO SHOCKED, but SO EXCITED! If your mom and dad come across some reasonably priced tickets...you might be taking a trip to sunny California for the Rose Bowl. I think you might be a good luck charm for Auburn. Whenever we say Touchdown Auburn, you throw both hands in the air with excitement. A friend joked it was good that you were born this year, since you might never have learned that with the way last season went.
To say you have some personality is an understatement. You are so funny, and show everyone exactly what you are thinking...even if it's not the best. You are always overflowing with sweet smiles.
You met Santa for the first time, and were not so sure about it. I asked Santa to bait you with a candy cane, and that went over pretty well. I am not sure why anybody would pay to get a picture with Santa at our mall when Bass Pro gives you a free one (they even gave me two free ones).
This month we are taking down the barriers. We have removed everything from the fireplace step (minus the fireplace cover), and you occasionally wander over and threaten to crawl up, but look over at me and get the mean "no" face, so you leave it alone. We also let the blinds back down in the kitchen that were previously under attack. We left the middle blind pulled up a bit, just so you could have a spot to check things out easily. Just this week we have removed the front door baby gate that protected our shoes and anything we didn't want you to have since our downstairs is so open. You LOVE to try and eat your shoes, so we are working on that. You can say the word shoes and try to put all of the shoes on your feet. I think we have one smart little lady.
It is going to be a busy next couple of weeks for the Dorman family. We head to the farm this weekend for Luke to hunt, celebrate Christmas next weekend with the Dorman clan, and head to Augusta Christmas week for a whole week with Mom's family.
It is amazing how defined your schedule is these days. You wake up every day between six and seven, but we let you play in your crib until seven no matter what. At nine you go down for your first nap of the day that can last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours. At two you go down for your second nap and seven you hit the bed.
I have now decided you are a horrible eater. You will put anything in your mouth, but rarely swallow anything. You just suck the juices out of fruit, veggies, even meat, and then spit it out. Very strange chicka! So basically you believe in a liquid diet and juicing! We have been using Enfagrow formula and mixing it with whole milk. I think we'll continue to use the Enfagrow to 18 months mixed with whole milk.
So...I just wanted to say one more time...YOU ARE AMAZING, SMART, FUNNY, HAPPY, AWESOME, little baby Lane. I won't be able to call you a baby much longer :(.
This is our Christmas Card picture! They are in the mail now. We took this back in October, so Lane's dress was a little big.

Boxes are so fun!
Some times you just need to be free!
Naked baby on the loose!
Lane loves to visit and wave at the older man in a wheel chair at this home. She really loves his ramp!

Boat ride with Rhodes before the SEC Championship Game!
You love to look over the edge and be miss independent.  You never want to hold our hands

You love getting into everything! You climb in and out of your wagon and pans. You also love to hid stuff in bins, lift lids, etc. It's amazing to see your wheels always turning.
One of my favorite spots in Savannah. It NEVER gets old
You want me to eat what?

10 MONTHS

Every month is a major milestone month, but I don't have too much to add onto for this month. You are a really good walker now, you did officially start some stranger danger, but it's random and not too bad yet. A while back I was looking in your mouth and noticed a tooth way in the back, turns out you already have a molar (that's crazy girl)! So right now I count 9 teeth, but I think there is one that popped up on the other side in the back, but you are not a fan of me looking back there, so hard to say.
I think you are only an ok eater from talking with friends. You definitely like the bad stuff (like ice cream and chocolate chips), but at this point still let me feed you green beans and other finger foods. Unfortunately, you did start a bad habit of spitting out food, I am not really sure why you are doing this, but it seems ever since we turned you onto full time formula you do not want as much solid foods. I am mainly concerned that you get the needed number of formula ounces though, so I am not going to worry much that your appetite has surpressed. Maybe you other mommies can comment.
Other notes on ten month Lane: You LOVE to play outside, we spend hours out roaming the grounds and picking up every leaf in sight. You had a good vocabulary saying, dad, dadda, even daddy, mom, momma, meatloaf (j/k), but seriously cat, dog, Lane, and you can say a lot of stuff just repeating right after us, but you don't just say any other words freely that I can think of right now.
A couple of weekends back we made a trip to Atlanta where you got to meet your Auburn friend Peyton (he is super cute, and I know will be super tall, so I'm excited to capture pictures of the two of you through the years ahead). You also got to play for many days with your cousins Mary Alice and Lily. Lane LOVES her cousins, and Mary Alice is the best babysitter ever. MA gives Lane her undivided attention for hours, and loves to pick Lane up and carry her around on her hip (granted she really doesn't have much hip for a 7 year old).
Lane also got to meet her long lost Aunt Jamie (she's not a blood aunt, but a momma's best friend aunt). Jamie moved from L.A. to Chicago, so we are excited she is bit closer to us now. Lane's first flight might even be up to Chicago (at least I hope we head up there soon). I think we'll have to wait for warmer weather, so I don't have to buy Lane an entire cold weather wardrobe.
This past weekend your Aunt Katie got married to a Dorman family friend here in Savannah and now you have a new Uncle Tom! You had a blast dancing at the wedding reception and are SO excited that Aunt Katie is now a Savannah resident.
Without further adieu, here is my recent pictures purge:

Nine Months

Our baby girl is 9 months old! According to the doctor, you act more like a one year old than a nine month old. You know what you like, you are very vocal, determined, funny, sweet, and just down right hilarious. Luke is the best dad, and you are daddy's girl for sure.
This past month we watched you take off! I know I already mentioned you started walking on 9-26, but on October 7th you learned how to get up from the floor without having to pull up. There is no stopping you now!
Mommy is trying desperately to end her milk supply (and having a lot of trouble getting it to go away), so you still prefer breast milk, but we have added in two formula bottles a day now. I think we might actually make it this entire time without having to buy any formula.
In terms of food, you do like a good variety of things, but after trying out all of the brands, you are a PLUM girl for sure. They have the strangest combinations of foods (like cherry, sweet corn, and greek yogurt...but you like it, A LOT). In terms of table food, you love to eat what we eat, and going forward I'm looking forward to feeding you a lot more of what we are already having.
You are a very friendly baby who does not hesitate when handed to other people.
I was a horrible mom and didn't get any good pictures of you without your dress already being a wrinkled mess, but you had a wonderful support system of family show up for your dedication at the church. It was so sweet that you got dedicated with your friend Celia Adams.
This past weekend you attended your first ever Dorman family barn dance. This is a big Dorman deal, so I am excited you had a great time dancing to the music already. It was wonderful to spend time with your great grandparents too.
You've got six teeth now, and I feel like you are always working on another.
We took you to Petite Feet in Savannah for your first ever pair of shoes (that were not consignment or hand me down...actually sized to your feet). You walk better barefoot, but are getting the hang of this shoe thing. You wear a size four shoe, size 3 diaper, and 9-12 month clothes (12 month pants though). You also got over your fear of pumpkins, just in time for Halloween!
You are such a blessing, and fill your parents life with amazing JOY!

First shoes!
You also got pretty silver fancy shoes for nicer outfits, but they haven't come in yet!
Still love your window view of the world
WE LOVE YOU LANE!
