Life for me has been a constant whirlwind in 2009, so why not write down my thoughts, opinions, hopes, and dreams for a million people to read!?!
Honestly, my husband suggested the blogging world as a way for people to stay in touch with what exactly we (me and Luke my husband) are up to these days. So...for this first blog I am going to give you a full fill in on what the heck we are doing these days.
To understand where I am now I feel it only fair to start with the beginning of 2009! I had one of the top year starters of all time. January 2nd my now husband Luke popped the question. So...we must talk about weddings and that whole process, but we could take billions of blogs, so just know I was fortunate enough to have my dream wedding on July 25th in Savannah, Georgia and marry the most amazing man.
After the wedding and honeymoon, I packed up my Atlanta apartment and moved west to Nashville to join my husband. I'm not gonna lie--Newlywed life is AWESOME! Luke and I lived apart for most of our dating career, so I'm sure if that is why we are both loving this marriage thing, or the fact that we just know we married the right person!?!
Luke has a career in building, so moving is something I signed up for. However, I really did expect CEVA my company at the time to be more understanding and willing to work with me...I guess in this economy one can only wish. CEVA did offer to keep me on, but only if I was willing to back track. I know many of you must be thinking I am crazy to turn down anything in our current economic situation, and looking back I am not sure I would have made the same decision, but I will say I have learned a lot the past couple of months, and I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.
One thing I've learned being a housewife is cooking great meals requires time. From being someone that worked, I understand how tired and impatient you are from working a long day and the last thing you want to think about is taking an hour to prepare an amazing meal, and we must not forget about the clean up required. So...for all you working women, I'll vouch that coming home and cooking a great meal takes some serious talent. I also learned that when I have the time, I do really enjoy cooking. I have tried my hand at cooking many things recently with some great success and some serious failure so far, but I think I'm getting the hang of this cooking thing pretty well.
Another recent discover for me is my how my body works at age 26. I am a natural athlete and always have been fortunate to go knock out a three mile run whenever I wanted. I did get into a bad car accident back in college that ruined my right foot and made things harder for me. However, after I recovered it seems I was still able to run a good bit without real pain and continue on pretty easily. Now however, I find it almost impossible to run just 1 mile without my foot beating me up. I know the doctor said things would be bad when I got older, but I was not thinking of 26 as my older. Not being able to go run to work off a few pounds just kills me. So...I have discovered I am an official gym body. I need to have access to a gym if I am going to be successful in the exercise world. Stay tuned for future blogs with me documenting my weightloss journey that I started pursuing this past Monday, November 16th.
More on the way to our current state, Luke and I found out mid September we were moving to Carlsbad, New Mexico (of course we find this out the week I finally have a ton of interviews scheduled here in Nashville). Not only are we moving to New Mexico, but they want us out there ASAP. So, no need to join a gym if I am leaving! Luke flys out the next week and finds a place for us to live, we get excited, ready to roll, then HAULT! Turns out our lease is pretty expensive here in Nashville and Luke's company is not excited about paying off our mortage. So, we wait...the new word and "official" word is the beginning of January now. I am excited about moving out west to a location neither of us have any clue about. So...stay tuned for some funny blogs on a couple of Georgia peaches exploring the wild west.
So...official current state is pending the move to Carlsbad (scheduled to take place in the beginning of Jan. now), I caved and bought a one month YMCA membership since my current weight of 155 lbs is NOT working out for me, Luke is traveling to visit Carlsbad on a regular basis (yes, we both get the trips back and forth are much more than buying out our lease, but the money comes from different buckets is the best way to phrase that one), and drum roll please....I have an interview in Carlsbad scheduled for the first week in December. So...keep your fingers crossed for me. At this point I am not 100% sure of the true position and do not have many details, so I'll save that for another blog. I'm pretty sure this blog is above and beyond the length anyone should ever read from me! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for some exciting times ahead.
